Get Help

Why did Lonna have to die?  Many of you have asked that question.  It would have been great if Lonna had survived and lived happily ever after with George; it just wouldn’t have been a mirror to what happens in real life.  And it might have made Lonna’s story forgettable.  Lonna died because she didn’t realize the extent of the danger she was in.  She died because she didn’t get help.  I hope that Lonna’s fictional death can guide us toward safety and happier endings in real life.  I am hoping that the ending will help someone realize that they can help themselves or someone they know to be survivors.  If you know someone who lives in fear, someone who is cut off from family and friends, someone without control of their own finances, and/or someone who is subjected to violence, threats, and degrading behavior, you can help.

Contact Your Legislators

Domestic abuse is a complex problem that is as old as our culture.  The laws and awareness regarding these issues have been slow in coming, but the tide is shifting.  Some states in the USA are starting to adopt new policies that do a better job of protecting victims. Contact your legislators and let them know that you want to end this senseless violence.
